1 SAS - Britain

The Special Air Service (SAS) is most elite special forces in United Kingdom, also is one of the most respected special forces in the world. It has been seen as the pioneer of most modern special tactics. SAS serves as a model for all special forces all over world. 

2. Delta Force – United States

As the major counter-terrorism force in the U.S, Delta Force is one of the largest special forces, and has the most advanced equipment and operation budget in the world today. From 1977 to now, Delta Force only has less than 40 years history, but it is expanding very rapidly. The number of operators has reached 1000. It has been at the forefront of the special forces of other countries in terms of weapons and equipment, training facilities and training methods. 

3. Navy SEALs – United States

Navy SEALs is one of the most elite, the most deterrent special forces in the world. SEALs is short for "Sea, Air and Land", which means this special force is able to response with all three components. The SEAL can not only perform underwater reconnaissance missions, but also special operations missions of the land. The SEAL can even quickly enter to war zone and penetrate the enemy lines in the form of airborne. The SEAL teams have always completed the task before the enemy realize their existence.  

  

4. GSG 9 - Germany

As the response to the terrorist attacks occurred in 1972 Munich Olympic Games, the German government established the GSG 9 der Bundespolizei or Grenzschutzgruppe 9 (Border Police Group 9). This is paramilitary armed police forces, all members are from German Federal Police. Aside of fully authorized domestic action, GSG 9 also executes some international assignments to protect the German citizens’ personnel and property safety in foreign countries. 

 

5. GIGN - French

The National Gendarmerie Intervention Group (GIGN) is a major counter-terrorism force of France, and is also one of the most active counter-terrorism combat powers in the world today. Although GIGN only has less than 500 people, but because of its high efficiency in the past success, it is famous in the world in terms of counter-terrorism operations.

 6. Alpha Group - Russia

Russian counter-terrorism special forces Alpha Group has a legendary reputation for 30 years. As one of the world's most elite special forces, Alpha Group’s counter-terrorism combat experience is very rich. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has praised it as "the best special force in the world". 

 

7. Sayeret Matkal - Israel

Israel's special forces combat experience is quite rich, and Sayeret Matkal (General Staff Reconnaissance Unit) is the best among all the special force units in Israel. This special force unit is the elite of the elite. It has created a lot of legendary combats since the establishment for more than 50 years.

 

8. GIS - Italy

Gruppo di Intervento Speciale (GIS, in English "Special Intervention Group") was established inside the Italian military police in 1978. The purpose is to deal with the growing terrorist threat in Italy. GIS has become a remarkable elite counter-terrorism unit once it was established. 

 

9 GROM - Poland

Grupa Reagowania Operacyjno-Manewrowego (Operational Maneuver Response Group) was founded in 1991. Major response for this unit is counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, VIP protection, conduct reconnaissance mission and peacekeeping operations.
