A Democratic Rebel with a Cause

Sen. Joe Liberman rejected an early withdrawl from Iraq today in an op-ed piece in the WSJ. Liberman is just the latest Democrat to come out in favor of staying the course (others including Sen. Hillary Clinton and Gov. Mark Warner). Many like to talk about Iraq being the achilles heel of the GOP, but how do these "defections" play out for the Democratic party? If the Dems embrace a candidate in 08 that did not support immediate or gradual withdrawl, will there be a split in the party?
